Biography

Katherina Olschbaur (b. 1983) comes from Bregenz, Austria, and lives and works between Vienna and Los Angeles. Olschbaur conjures seductive forms through an artistic lens reminiscent of Surrealism and her work is characterized by smooth washes of neon-like color. To say that she leaves sketches behind in her paintings would be incorrect, because the sketch-like drawing lines are part of a very intentional result that visually depends on them. Olschbaur studied Painting, Animation Film, and Stage Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Her work has been exhibited in Austria, Greece, Italy, China and the USA. The metamorphosis of figures and materialities – simultaneously creation, fusing and disbanding – is a fundamental aspect of her work. Olschbaur’s works have been exhibited in Austria, Greece, Italy, China and the USA.
